EPA Head Scott Pruitt Resigns Amid Controversy

Scott Pruitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), resigned his post President Donald Trump announced via Twitter today. Pruitt’s deputy at the EPA, Andrew Wheeler, will serve as the agency’s acting administrator starting July 9.

Pruitt has been embroiled in numerous investigations into questionable ethical and spending decisions involving travel expenses, his protective security detail, raises to staff members and more. Pruitt also urged Trump to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement and oversaw the rollback of numerous environmental rules designed to reduce emissions and mitigate global warming.
