The demand for organic and non-GMO products continues to increase, creating both opportunities and unique challenges for food and beverage manufacturers.

In recent years, "clean label" has come to the forefront of industry trends. However, elements of clean label, such as organic and non-GMO (genetically modified organism), have been part of the market vernacular for decades. Organic products represented nearly 5 percent of all food sales in the United States in 2015, and non-GMO food and beverage sales are anticipated to top US$330 billion by 2019.
