Currently, the dairy category is facing major competition from the dairy alternative sector. Sales of conventional dairy milk dropped 15 percent in 2012 and are expected to continue falling due to growing interest in dairy-free milk alternatives. Despite the slump, organic dairy products continue to resonate with consumers, ringing up sales of $3.5 billion in 2017.
